March 4, 2019 – Received email form Southern Vermont College about SVC closing for financial reasons. Reached out to SVC to see what would be needed to keep the school open and immediately began coordinating with other alumni to save Southern Vermont College
March 5, 2019 – Alumni began coordinating and working on template for the website. Mapped out a plan and timeline. Launched SVCalumni.com in the afternoon. In the late evening of March 5, 2019, the Go Fund Me page was launched.
March 8, 2019 – PRESS RELEASE – What a Difference a Few Days Make
March 8, 2019 – Measurable results. SVCalumni.com features 8 MySVC personal stories. Hundreds of pictures from 18 academic years are loaded into the website SVCalumni.com. We Are SVC Facebook page has nearly 600 members sharing 1,000’s of pictures and stories. Go Fund Me has raised $2575 from 16 people in just four days.
March 12, 2019 – What a difference just one week makes. Measurable results. SVC.com features 12 MySVC personal stories. Hundreds of pictures keep pouring in that now represent 25 academic years. We Are SVC Facebook page now has 889 member. The Go Fund Me page has raised $4,565 in less than one week.
March 15, 2019 – Southern Vermont College Board of Trustees takes notice and reverses their decision not to appeal the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) decision. NECHE confirmed that the board filed an intent to appeal the decision on March 14, 2019. The Go Fund me campaign breaks the $10,000 mark.
